Stewart Lane

We are more than we think we are

Stewart Lane is a British composer, singer-songwriter and filmmaker whose work inhabits the space between the sacred and the cinematic. His genre-defying sound evokes the stillness of Ólafur Arnalds, the expansive textures of Max Richter, and the emotional intimacy of Emile Mosseri. Through atmospheric soundscapes, provocative lyrics and surreal storytelling, Stewart creates immersive, emotionally resonant work that lingers long after the final note.

As a neurodivergent artist, Stewart's music and experimental films explore unconventional narratives and celebrate diverse ways of seeing the world. His growing body of work is driven by emotional depth, creative curiosity, and a desire to challenge conventional perspectives through sound and image.

Project details

Currently in production, Dialogue With Angels will be the second release in my Adventures in Consciousness trilogy, continuing an exploration of consciousness, perception and our relationship with the natural world. Blending songs with atmospheric instrumental passages, the album draws inspiration from spirituality, neuroscience, poetry and ancient wisdom to examine intuition, identity and the ways culture shapes our experience of reality.

Rather than presenting answers, the music invites reflection. For me, songwriting and composition is a process of discovery—creating spaces where emotion, imagination and awareness intersect. Dialogue With Angels is both a personal exploration and an invitation for listeners to engage with their own sense of wonder, curiosity and connection.

Dialogue With Angels is set for release October 2026

These seven pieces explore the moments that lead to my 'jumping-off' place — when my mind and body feel transported to other realms. Perhaps watching a sunset, or walking through an enchanted place, each piece traces the build-up to ecstatic release, capturing the floating, evanescent quality of a single moment, or holding silence and shadow like the pause between breaths. In a world of constant change, these fleeting alignments feel infinitely precious — timeless, layered, dissolving into peace and reflection.

Press / Reviews

Curves of Longing... meanders from delicate, intimate moments, to powerful and impassioned, multi-layered ones. All the while, the melodies, the emotions and peaks, the sense of movement, continues to feel original and engaging – a mode of cinematic escapism that truly frees you from the weight of the outside world. ” - Rebecca Cullen

Stereo Stickman

A fusion of rich strings and rock vocals backed by punchy piano and percussion reflect influences as diverse as Arabic dance and Lutoslawski, Lane bewitches his audience, not least with the near magical string arrangements” - Mark Ennals
